About Us
The Galen Terrace Tenant Association in partnership with the owners (Somerset Development Company and
NHT/Enterprise) oversees the Galen Terrace Community Center s resident services programs through a Board
consisting of three residents and two representatives of the ownership. A Tenant Services Fund and on-going
contributions from property cash flow dedicated to resident services assures program continuity.
In 2007, the Galen Community Center Board entered into a partnership with the Wheeler Creek CDC and
offered a summer camp for 20 youth, between the ages of 5 and 13. The camp provided meals, computer training
and field trips to local attractions. The camp counselor also introduced reading and math skills, and foreign
languages such as Swahili, French, and Spanish
Edgewood Community Services is providing After-School programs, a Summer Program for 2008, and other activities
to implement the Board s goals improve academic levels, promoting effective communication and interpersonal
relationships through values clarification training and mentoring, youth leadership development and wholesome
recreational activities. The program promotes active participation of parents in the program content,
implementation, and evaluation.
